Borrowing materials

  • Library users must have a valid Onondaga County Library card to borrow materials. Click here for more info on how to get a card.

  • Please report a lost or stolen library card immediately so you can get a replacement card.

  • If a library user has long overdue items or a fine balance over $10.00, they may not borrow materials until the overdue iterms are returned or the fine reduced to below $10.00.

  • Each person is responsible for the use of their own library card.

  • The loan period for most items in the library is 21 days. DVDs, magazines and children’s holiday and seasonal books in the red cart have a 7 day loan period.

  • Library materials may be renewed twice, unless the item has a hold placed on it by another person. You can renew materials over the phone, or online. Click here to access your library account to renew your books.

  • Older materials can be checked out for a 'vacation loan' of six weeks at the discretion of the library staff.

Fines

The Tully Free Library is no longer collecting overdue fines on items owned by Tully Free Library. However, if you lose or damage an item, you will still be responsible for replacement costs. Other libraries in the Onondaga County Public Library system have various policies for overdue fines, so it you borrow items from another OCPL library, you may get overdue fines.

Getting a library card is FREE.

Notices of overdue materials will be made automatically to you based on your preference in your library account. Notices are sent by phone, email, and/or text. If you want to receive an “almost overdue” notice, those can only be sent by email.

Fines and fees can be paid online through your library account, or at the library by cash or check.

Lost or Damaged Materials

Because of the costs of buying and processing new materials, borrowers who lose or damage any items will still be charged for the replacement costs. However, there will be no replacement fine if the items are returned to the library in good condition.
